During our last Walt Disney World visit, I was super excited to try the new Harambe marketplace at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. It was open during our October 2015 visit, however, we arrived at 12:30 and it was PACKED! This trip I really wanted to try the Beef Gyro Flatbread, so I was sure to be there and waiting at 11:00 a.m. when the marketplace opened.
The Harambe Marketplace is actually a grouping of 4 ADORABLE 'quick service' restaurants. There is a nice variety of food choices on the menus. Everyone in your family should be able to find something they will enjoy.
They serve two drinks that are also available to try at Club Cool inside Epcot, the Spara-Letta and Bilbo. Spara-Letta happens to be my youngest son's favorite! You should have seen how excited he was that he could order an entire glass! (If you would like to know more about Club Cool here is a great You Tube video.)
The marketplace opened promptly at 11:00am and they even had a welcome show. How fun is that? There was a little song and a young member of the audience (the group of starving people) was chosen to ring the chow bell. He loved it!
As planned, I had the gyro. I wasn't a fan of the beans (no shocker I don't like beans unless they are green like God intended) but I loved the papaya slaw. Mr. Incredible really enjoyed the beans so they must not be poison.
My little one was eyeing up the hand dipped corn dog! It really looked yummy. He did NOT let me try a bite.
Mr. Incredible and my oldest headed over to Flame Tree Barbeque for their meals. I don't really care for Flame Tree but it is their FAVORITE! Fine with me - fewer people wanting to 'try a bite' of my Gyro. Back off vultures!!
The food was good and the prices I don't think were terrible. You know, for Disney prices.
As you dine, take time to enjoy the atmosphere. The entire area is decorated with whimsical decor and offers some fantastic photo opportunities. You really feel as though you are grabbing a bite to eat at a Harambe open-air market.
What are you going to order during your next visit to the Harambe Marketplace at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park?
Whenever we are at the Animal Kingdom, that is the area we find ourselves in the most.
ReplyDeleteReally with all the animals, rides and attractions you guys hang out in the food court? That is funny. It is good food though, am I right?!
DeleteI've been to Animal Kingdom many times, but my stepdaughter and hubs have only been to Disneyland. I can't wait to take them to Disney World in Lake Buena Vista so they can see all this! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is sure good food! My new favorite place to grab a bite at Animal Kingdom.
DeleteI have not yet been to the Animal Kingdom but I will add it to my list. Thanks for the great and informative post.
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome! It is a lovely park. You have to ride Kilimanjaro Safari!
DeleteI've never eaten there and I'm not sure which I would want to eat first. We were there last summer and there's no plans to go back any time soon. I would really love to do another Disney park that I haven't done before. BTW if that's your bill, that's really reasonable for Disney park prices.
ReplyDeleteYes that is the total for 1 adult and 1 kid's meal! I was very pleased. :)
DeleteOh man! SOOO MUCH to choose from! I would have a really hard time deciding!
ReplyDeleteI had 7 months to decide since it was too busy in October! Now I want more... ha.
DeleteThis actually makes me want to visit and honestly over the years I thought it to be too expensive but your pics are great and make me rethink my whole look on things thanks so much for sharing! It could honestly be because I haven't eaten dinner yet because I am a little hungry and since giving up beef and pork over 6 months ago that gyro looks amazing but now I am rambling I better make dinner lol!

Yes, the meal was totally a Disney value! You can certainly spend a fortune if you wanted to, but you can find great deals like this also.
DeleteWe were there last year and I have to admit, looking at these photos, I think we may have missed some stuff. Dang.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much to do and see you always miss stuff. There is even a lot I have to cross off my list. That's why we keep going back!
DeleteOh, that African Milk Tart is calling my name. I'm heading to Disney in October with my family, and I will be adding the Harambe Marketplace to my list of places to check out.
ReplyDeleteLet me know how it is! We will be back in March.
DeleteWe didn't make it to Animal Kingdom when we went to Disney, but I wanted to go so badly! The Tree of Life looks so cool and this marketplace looks DELISH!
ReplyDeleteOh the Tree of Life is so cool! If you get up nice and close there are some surprises in the trunk!
DeleteI love Disney and Animal Kingdom. You can get great food at a good price if you just look.
ReplyDeleteExactly. I think we did very well with our food budget this past trip for the 4 of us.
Deleteomgoodness,,,,, YES, Yes Yes... beans should be green as God intended! Ive never thought of why I only liked green beans, and I can't wait to use that to explain it! You just made my whole day!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could make your day! :)
DeleteYou had me at Gyro. My all time favorite sandwich. We are headed to Disney this fall and I will definitely be checking this out.
ReplyDeleteIt was so yummy!! Let me know what you think.
DeleteI've actually never been :( I've always wanted to go though! I've been to Disneyland however!
ReplyDeleteCome on down! Everyone needs to visit at least once!
DeleteI can't wait until we get a chance to go back to Disney World (in a few years, maybe?) It's so much fun and there's so much good food -- even if a lot of it's on the pricey side!
ReplyDeleteNothing worse then spending a lot on crappy food. Luckily there is no worry there when you are at Disney!
DeleteI think it is great that the marketplace offers a show for the whole family. It's definitely a very family-friendly experience to be enjoyed by everyone together.
ReplyDeleteThat paypaya slaw does look good and I am sure you enjoyed your beef apart from the beans. Sounds like a great marketplace for all the family!
ReplyDeletethis looks like a place with some great eats. Will have to keep this in mind if we go visit there as we always spend our time at DW but need to switch it up next time ;)
ReplyDeleteI use to live in Orlando so o went to animal kingdom a lot!!! Disney definitely does food right! At least I think so. Very rare will you find me dissing a Disney meal lol...
ReplyDeleteThis looks like such a fun place! I love all the signage.
