When Did My Kids Get So Smart? Channeling Your Inner Child.

As a parent, you spend a LOT of time teaching your children. How to walk, how to use the toilet, how to tie their shoes, how to use a spoon, how to do long division - you get the idea. But sometimes if you are lucky and you sit back and listen - they have lots to teach you, too! Here are some things I have learned about life from my boys.

Be Gel-ous of My (Paleo) Gummy Bears & Marshmallows

I have been eating Paleo for two years now - though I really do need to get back to being more strict! I have lost 65 lbs, gained 10 back, and have another 20 I really want to lose. I'm in a rut and I need to branch out into some new foods. Say... gummy bears and marshmallows? Sounds good to me!

Washing Your Hair - You are Doing it Wrong!

About a year ago I made a startling discovery. I was washing my hair wrong. I have fine hair and I was trying to make it look fuller as it was always weighted down. It was healthy, but just sorta limp. The enemy? My conditioner! The product worked as it should, my hair was soft and healthy - but it was weighing me down. The solution? REVERSE YOUR ROUTINE! I started conditioning first, then shampooing. The conditioner did a great job softening my locks, but left a heavy residue on my strands. By shampooing after I condition, the conditioner can do it's thing and then the shampoo washes way the residue left behind. Genius, right?

How to Safely Walk Your Dog at Night

We rescued our dog, Peter Parker (we call him Parker) three years ago when he was only 12 weeks old. He was super shy and took a while to warm up to us - but once he did he hasn't stopped acting crazy! He is what I like to call a Doberdork (half Doberman, half Labrador - we think). He has a LOT of energy, and needs to go on regular walks in addition to running like mad around the yard several times a day.

What Your Mom Never Told You About Being an Adult

This week, I celebrated my 35th birthday. With 2 kids, a full time job, an SUV, a mortgage and even a dog - I think it is safe to say I am elbow-deep into this adult stuff. Remember when you were a kid, and you would say, 'I can't wait to grow up!'? Funny, right? My dear friend Amanda over at Growing Up Madison is guest-posting for me during my birthday week. Isn't she the greatest? (SHE IS! Go check her out!) This is a great read for those who maybe are just graduating this month from college or those who are just getting their feet wet out in 'the real world'. ENJOY!

Be the Change . . .

I woke up this morning to a notification on my Facebook feed I have never seen - and should never see again. I was able to see who was 'marked safe' in Orlando. My heart dropped to my stomach as I did a google search for 'Orlando shooting' and there it was. The devastating news of yet another tragedy. I am done. D-O-N-E done. As one of my good friends said earlier today, we can't say 'this is becoming the norm' because guess what - this IS the norm.

Disney World Giant Mickey Marshmallow Treat Copycat Recipe

One of my boys' favorite Walt Disney World treats are the Mickey Marshmallow treats! They somehow taste better than the ones you make following the recipe back of the Rice Krispie box. I have tweaked the ingredients and came up with a recipe that tastes just like the giant Mickey treats you would find on Main Street, U.S.A.

Everyone has an idea and preconceived notion on what ADD is, but I want to let you in on what it exactly means to live with ADD.
