I freaking love summer. L O V E it. If I could sit outside and lie on the grass in bare feet all day looking at the clouds travel by - I would. Summer to me is longer nights, warmer weather, cookouts, beach days, flip flips, shorts, hikes, farmer's markets, festivals, and FUN! It also means us northerners are bearing our glaringly white skin to the world. While it is unsafe to tan that white skin, I still want the epidermis I bare to be nice and soft.
I started making my own body scrub years ago. It is easy. It is inexpensive. And honestly, I feel it is more effective than what I can purchase in the stores. Bonus - it is free of those micro beads that do NOT dissolve and pollute our water sources. BOO! Once you make this not only will you never buy scrub from the store again, you will want to share this with everyone! (I won't mind.)
Here is what you need for your own body scrub:
1 cup white or brown sugar
1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
optional - 4-5 drops of your favorite essential oils (you can also use vanilla, peppermint, or orange extract right out of your baking cupboard)
Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl.
Head into the shower and rub onto your damp skin. Feel the dead skin cells leave your skin ... ahh... Rinse off and follow with your favorite body wash. Remember to moisturize once you are out of the shower. Feel your silky smooth skin!!
I love to use this before shaving my legs. The oil left behind on my skin is enough that I don't need to use shave gel.
Parker loves this stuff, too. I had a heck of a time photographing while trying to keep him from eating my body scrub! BAD DOG! (I still love you.)
**CAUTION** The body scrub may make your shower a bit slippery. Use caution and clean shower surfaces after using scrub, if needed.
