Mid-way through week 3, I started to feel confident. I was sticking to my 3 runs a week. I wasn't feeling sore or stiff. I wasn't loathing my time in my sneakers. I was running a solid 3 minutes in a row. I realized I do not need medical attention after I run. Sign me up for the next Olympics! Because of my great successes, I decided to take my speedy self outdoors. I wanted to see how fast I actually would run without something telling me what speed I should be running. To recap I will provide you with a list of pros and cons of taking your run outdoors.
-There are bugs outside.
-There is NOT Netflix outside.
-The pavement isn't level. There are hills out there y'all!
-My earbuds do not fit in my ears. During my 'running' part I was TERRIFIED that my couch to 10K app would tell me to stop running as the earbud would pop out of the one ear I could 'sorta' get it to stay in - and then I wouldn't know if I should stop or not! I ran holding it inside my ear cavity.
-Other people can see me. I am pretty sure they laughed at me. (This may have been in my head. I don't think so . . . )
-My pace was actually slower outside.
-I felt like the run was both not as intense as the treadmill run, but at the same time it was more intense. I can't explain this well.
-I had nowhere to put my cell phone. In your sports bra is a terrible idea. Don't ask me how I know.
-I was SO THIRSTY! Thank goodness the track by my house has a water fountain.
-OTHER people's dogs were looking at me like I was crazy.
|SERIOUSLY - who designed these? Who has circular ear holes?!?!|
-I saw a butterfly
I will keep running on the treadmill for now. I need to get an arm band for my phone, better earbuds, AND some sort of water belt thing? I have seen others use this. Sadly, it is going to get COLD up here in Wisconsin pretty quickly. I will have to use my treadmill at an incline for now indoors. After all, the event I am preparing for IS outside.
Do you prefer exercising inside or outside?
