Couch to 10K Week 4 Review - Ain't Nobody Got Time For That

This week I am having a terrible time fitting these runs into my schedule. The kids are back in school. Business is picking in the Travel Agency land (YAY!), and my full time job is as it always has been - full time (duh).

If I could just get up an hour earlier and run, it would be so much easier. I just CAN'T. I have tried waking up early to exercise about a thousand times in my adult life. Do you know how many times I have woken up, changed my alarm to go off an hour later, and went back to bed? Probably 999. OK who am I kidding. Probably a thousand. Every. Single. Time. I can barely get myself out of bed to go to work. Run for an hour?!?! Seriously. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Alas, I have to get on it. And I have been. It just has not been easy. I will work my 8-11 hour day, and then come home and run before dinner. There just really is not any other options.

I am now running 5 minutes straight. I am honestly surprised I am this far. It is NOT easy. I feel as though my chest is going to explode. Just today I was researching how to breathe and I am breathing wrong! How crazy is that. The one thing I have been doing since birth and . . . I failed. HA! Turns out I need to breathe through the diaphragm and not the chest area. I will be trying this out tomorrow as I begin week 5!

This week, I also finished watching Grace and Frankie on Nexflix. Oh man am I going to miss those ladies. Take a look at this clip below. Beware: you will become HOOKED! Season 3 is forecasted to come out in May. Yikes!

My new Netflix find is Cuckoo. I am 2 episodes in. Not nearly as amazing as Grace and Frankie, but it is OK. Perhaps it will grow on me.

Anyone have any Netflix suggestions for my treadmill runs? Comment below!  I need something extremely entertaining and funny. Nothing serious. I need to LAUGH when I feel as though I am about to die.

  1. I feel like that too when training. Waking up an hour early just doesn't happen. I'll live in my workout clothes so I can do 2-3 miles here or there.

  4. I used to love running like this but now I would totally use that extra hour for more coffee instead. Yep that's definitely what I would use it for!

  5. I admire people that can get up and do this. Unfortunately I am not one of those people.

  6. I am ALL about Orange is the New Black. I am in the most current "season" of it, but I have like a TON more to go! I just cant find the time to watch them. Hopefully this weekend I can chill with them! Love it!

  7. I'm the exact same way. I would LOVE to be able to get up before the kids and run...but it's never going to happen. So, I go at night and then it's the hubs turn!

  8. So many things to say about this post, but let me start with WOO HOO! Congrats on running 5 minutes straight...that's a huge accomplishment and you should be quite proud! As someone who loves running I will say it should probably start to get a bit easier when you get the breathing down.

But I keep trying last year I was on a roll exercising everyday... But still not getting up at 5am like I had planned to.. :)

  14. Waking up early everyday after having a long day before that is never easy and sometimes it's not possible at all! I think it's great that you chose to run after work instead. It will get better as your going to get used to running.

  15. I LOVE Grace & Frankie! I watched both seasons a couple months ago and was so bummed that I'd have to wait until May for the next season. I'd recommend Parenthood if you haven't watched it–all the feels.

  16. haha that meme is my favourite and definitely true, I try to run in the morning but my body seems to hate me if I try to attempt it - that being said, I always run faster in the morning (not sure what that is all about!)

  17. When I was teenage my brother who happened to be a runner used to drag me from bed and run. That was torching..LOL. I'm not a Netflix person, I don't even follow the update of TV programmes nowadays, but I hope you find a great and funny show to watch while on treadmill.

  18. I'm with you. I'm not an early riser and I don't try and kid myself. I know I won't get up so I don't plan it.

  21. Finding the time to run is my biggest issue. It doesn't get easier once you start going farther distances.

  22. I am the queen of setting an alarm to wake up or run, and snoozing until it's way too late to go! On Netflix, I am loving Stranger Things. Creepy, but good!

  23. Hehehe more power to all of you that can get up and run! I was a huge gym girl at one point and even my gym sessions had to be later in the day or I would skip lol

  25. I hate running hahah.. I haven't watched Gracie and Frankie. I'm almost finished with The Secret Life of the American Teenager (I never watched all of it when it originally aired). I signed up for Hulu Premium or whatever it is called, and my husband and I have been rewatching Rock of Love Bus, Daisy of Love, and Charm School.

  28. My daughter is the person you need to talk to about Netflix. She would be the binge watching queen if I let her.

  29. There's a lot of standup comedy that'll have you falling off the treadmill hahaha! So I don't know how funny you want the show to be lol.
